11-12 hours at night + afternoon nap. Sleep needs slowly decreasing. Some children soon give up afternoon nap — then earlier bedtime.

Increasingly independent at meals. Fork skills improving. Healthy eating habits now shape lifelong patterns. Minimize sugar.

Simple board games (memory, lotto), role play with costumes, riding tricycle confidently, painting and crafting, 'reading' books (child tells story).

• Complex instructions show: language comprehension often ahead of expression
• Potty training can begin when child shows interest
• Deepen book stories with questions: 'What do you think happens next?'
• Encourage movement: climbing, running, balancing strengthens motor skills
